Tikka Masala Sauce

2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, finely diced
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 tablespoon cumin, ground
1.5 teaspoon cayenne, ground
1/4 teaspoon turmeric, ground
14 ounce tomato sauce (can
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon black pepper, cracked
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


  1. In a large skillet melt butter.
  2. Add onion, cook & stir until translucent.
  3. Stir in garlic and fry until fragrant.
  4. Stir in cumin, ginger, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, turmeric and fry until fragrant.
  5. Add tomato sauce, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
  6. Add cream and paprika. Simmer 10-15 minutes until thick. Add salt and pepper. Keep warm for service.
